At Smartline Electrical, we are committed to delivering safe, reliable, compliant, and high-quality electrical services. These Terms & Conditions apply to all quotations, proposals, invoices, and works undertaken by Smartline Electrical. By accepting a quotation, proposal, invoice, or engaging our services, you acknowledge and agree to these Terms & Conditions.
1. Quotations & Proposals
- All quotations and proposals are valid for thirty (30) days from the date of issue unless otherwise stated.
- Acceptance of a quotation or proposal constitutes acceptance of these Terms & Conditions.
- Quotations are based on information available at the time of pricing and may be subject to adjustment where unforeseen circumstances, concealed conditions, or changes to the scope of works arise.
- Any variation to the agreed scope of works may result in additional charges for labour, materials, equipment, permits, or associated costs.
- Unless otherwise specified, quotations do not include rectification of existing faults, non-compliant wiring, switchboards, or electrical installations discovered during the course of the works.
2. Compliance & Safety
- All electrical works are completed in accordance with applicable Australian Standards, including AS/NZS 3000 Wiring Rules, Victorian Electrical Safety Regulations, and all relevant legislation.
- All works are carried out by appropriately licensed and qualified electricians.
- Where required by law, a Certificate of Electrical Safety (COES) will be issued upon completion.
- Existing installations must comply with minimum safety requirements before certain works can proceed.
- Smartline Electrical reserves the right to suspend or refuse works where unsafe conditions, non-compliant installations, asbestos, or significant hazards are identified.
3. Client-Supplied Equipment
- Any products supplied by the client must comply with applicable Australian Standards and carry the Regulatory Compliance Mark (RCM) where required.
- Smartline Electrical reserves the right to refuse installation of any product deemed unsafe, non-compliant, damaged, unsuitable, or incompatible.
- Smartline Electrical accepts no responsibility for the performance, reliability, defects, or warranty of client-supplied products.
- Additional labour and material charges may apply where client-supplied products require modifications, troubleshooting, replacement parts, or additional installation time.
4. Site Access & Conditions
- The client is responsible for providing safe, unobstructed, and reasonable access to all work areas.
- Furniture, vehicles, personal belongings, and other obstructions should be removed prior to commencement of works.
- Additional charges may apply where access restrictions, concealed wiring, structural obstacles, asbestos, hazardous materials, or unforeseen site conditions are encountered.
- While reasonable care will be taken, Smartline Electrical is not liable for pre-existing defects, concealed damage, or deterioration uncovered during the course of the works.
5. Variations & Additional Works
- Any work requested outside the original quoted scope shall be treated as a variation.
- Variations may be quoted separately or charged at Smartline Electrical’s applicable labour and material rates.
- Verbal, written, email, text message, or on-site approval authorises Smartline Electrical to proceed with variation works.
- Variations may affect project completion dates and pricing.
6. Lifetime Workmanship Warranty
Smartline Electrical proudly provides a Lifetime Workmanship Warranty on all workmanship performed by our team.
This warranty covers:
- Faults directly resulting from installation workmanship.
- Defects caused by incorrect installation practices.
- Repairs required due to workmanship-related issues.
This warranty does not cover:
- Manufacturer defects.
- Client-supplied products.
- Fair wear and tear.
- Accidental damage, misuse, neglect, or abuse.
- Alterations, repairs, or modifications by third parties.
- Power surges, lightning strikes, natural disasters, or external causes beyond our control.
- Damage resulting from ageing electrical systems or existing defects outside the scope of works completed.
The Lifetime Workmanship Warranty applies to the reasonable service life of the installation at the original property and is limited to workmanship performed by Smartline Electrical.
Smartline Electrical reserves the right to inspect and rectify any workmanship issue before third-party repairs are undertaken.
7. Product Warranties
- Products supplied by Smartline Electrical are covered by the manufacturer’s warranty.
- Warranty periods vary between manufacturers and product types.
- Smartline Electrical will reasonably assist customers with warranty claims where applicable.
- Labour associated with manufacturer warranty claims may not be covered unless specifically provided by the manufacturer.
8. Payment Terms
- Deposits are required before works commence.
- Progress payments may be requested for larger projects or staged works.
- Payment is due immediately upon completion of works and issue of invoice.
- Smartline Electrical reserves the right to suspend works, withhold certification, or delay project completion where payment obligations are not met.
- Overdue accounts may incur interest, debt recovery costs, collection fees, legal expenses, and administration charges to the extent permitted by law.
9. Ownership of Goods
- All materials, equipment, and products supplied by Smartline Electrical remain the property of Smartline Electrical until full payment has been received.
- Smartline Electrical reserves all rights available under applicable laws in relation to unpaid goods and services.
10. Limitation of Liability
- To the maximum extent permitted by law, Smartline Electrical’s liability is limited to the repair, replacement, or rectification of defective workmanship.
- Smartline Electrical shall not be liable for indirect, consequential, incidental, special, or economic loss arising from the use, failure, interruption, or malfunction of electrical systems or equipment.
- Nothing within these Terms & Conditions excludes any rights or guarantees provided under Australian Consumer Law.
11. Privacy
- Customer information is collected solely for the purpose of providing quotations, scheduling works, invoicing, warranty administration, and regulatory compliance.
- Smartline Electrical does not sell, rent, or distribute customer information to third parties except where required by law or necessary to provide services.
12. Marketing & Project Photography
- Smartline Electrical may photograph completed works for quality assurance, training, portfolio, website, and marketing purposes.
- No personal information or identifying customer details will be published without consent.
13. Force Majeure
Smartline Electrical shall not be liable for delays or failure to perform works due to events beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to severe weather, power outages, supplier shortages, transport disruptions, industrial action, government restrictions, natural disasters, or other unforeseen circumstances.
14. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. Any dispute arising from services provided by Smartline Electrical shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Victoria.

By accepting a quotation, approving variation works, engaging Smartline Electrical, or making payment of an invoice, the customer acknowledges and accepts these Terms & Conditions.
